چکیده

In this paper, we propose a novel method to simultaneously and accurately estimate the 3D shape and 3D motion of a dynamic scene from multiple-viewpoint calibrated videos. We follow a variational approach in the vein of previous work on stereo reconstruction and scene flow estimation. We adopt a representation of a dynamic scene by an animated mesh, i.e. a polygonal mesh with fixed connectivity whose timevarying vertex positions sample the trajectories of material points. Interestingly, this representation ensures a consistent coding of shape and motion by construction. Our method accurately recovers 3D shape and 3D motion by optimizing the positions of the vertices of the animated mesh. This optimization is driven by an energy function which incorporates multi-view and inter-frame photo-consistency, smoothness of the spatio-temporal surface and of the velocity field. Central to our work is an image-based photo-consistency score which can be efficiently computed and which fully handles projective distortion and partial occlusions. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method on several challenging realworld dynamic scenes.

ID GB 12: Spatio-Temporal Stereo using Multi-Resolution Subdivision Surfaces

We present a method to automatically extract spatio-temporal descriptions of moving objects from synchronized and calibrated multi-view sequences. The object is modeled by a time-varying multi-resolution subdivision surface that is fitted to the image data using spatio-temporal multi-view stereo information, as well as contour constraints. The stereo data is utilized by computing the normalized...

Modelling Non-Rigid Dynamic Scenes from Multi-View Image Sequences

This chapter focuses on the problem of obtaining a complete spatio-temporal description of some objects undergoing a non-rigid motion, given several calibrated and synchronized videos of the scene. Using stereovision and scene flow methods in conjunction, the three-dimensional shape and the non-rigid three-dimensional motion field of the objects can be recovered. We review the unrealistic photo...

Surface Reconstruction from Multi-View Stereo

We describe an original method to reconstruct a 3D scene from a sequence of images. Our approach uses both the dense 3D point cloud extracted by multi-view stereovision and the calibrated images. It combines depth-maps construction in the image planes with surface reconstruction through restricted Delaunay triangulation. The method may handle very large scale outdoor scenes. Its accuracy has be...
